Attn: 100-Mile Ride
Supporter
The 100-mile
One Day ride is the foundation upon which the modern day sport
of Endurance Riding was based. Those horses and
riders who are able to successfully complete this type of
endeavor serve to exemplify what true endurance is all
about. There is a
special level of dedication, heart and determination required
to even attempt such a rigorous test of skill.
Unfortunately,
the AERC statistics have shown that those who are willing to
accept such a challenge have been in decline in recent
years. In an
effort to boost rider participation, and award recognition to
the amazing horses who are able to accomplish such feats, the
AERC Western Region is implementing a 100-Mile Horse
Recognition Program.
Equines will be awarded for completing the 100-Mile
one-day ride format through various levels of succession.
We are asking
for your help with implementing such a program. Award and Program
sponsors are necessary to keep the cost low to those riders
and horses who have achieved the various levels of success in
the program. At
this time, we are requiring riders to self-enroll their horses
for an annual fee.
Ideally, we would like to be able to extend this to all
horses within the region, regardless of enrollment
status. We would like this
regional 100-Mile Recognition Program to not only recognize
our One Day 100-Mile riders and horses, but set an example to
the AERC Board of Directors that such programs are beneficial
to the sport and support 100-Mile ride participation. Hopefully someday the
AERC will consider a larger scale 100-Mile recognition
program.
We have various
predetermined sponsorship levels, but will gladly accept any
donations. All
sponsors will receive a link on our website if desired.

- Horse must be owned by an AERC
West Region member
- Horse must have an AERC
number
- Only AERC or FEI sanctioned 100
mile one day rides will count towards 100s
- Only endurance miles will count
towards mileage requirement – LD miles will not
count
- Horses must have completed an
AERC ride in the 2006 ride season (Dec 1,
2005-present)
- Horses will only receive award
for the level they earn while enrolled in the program but
will receive recognition for the level they earned before
enrollment.**
- Annual recording cost per horse -
$25.00 (make check to Maryben
Stover)
**IMPORTANT PLEASE
READ! This program is
designed to encourage participation in one day 100 mile
rides. Therefore,
awards will be awarded to horses that complete additional
100’s after enrolling in the program only. If a horse reaches an
additional level because of mileage only (without completing
any additional 100’s) then the awards will be available at
cost to the owner/rider.
If a horse reaches a higher level after enrollment in
the program previous awards will also be available for
purchase to the rider.
If we can find sponsors to further this program
year after year then we can reduce the annual recording
fee.
Awards will be based on the
official AERC horse record.
