How to upgrade a bike?

This question is better asked in the cycling section of Sports. Also, you need to be less vague. What kind of bike you want to update? If you have a bike that stores the cheapest I want to do is replace the tires and tire air and light tubes. Otherwise it is not worth the money. Saving for a better bike is more prudent course of action.
