What is a “Core” temperature using Speedfan?
At work we have a “Test” pc – used for testing cards and memory.
its an Asus A8V-MX motherboard with a AMD Athelon 64 3200+ cpu, 1Gb ram.
using speedfan we get 5 temperatures which show up a bit like this:-
the brackets are what each sensor is reading, so tho CPU1 should be a chip temp – its actually taking the HDD temp.
Sys : 30′c (case temp)
CPU 0 : 28′c (cpu temp)
AUX : 40′c (??)
CPU 1 : 34′c (HDD 0)
CORE :48′c (??)
my question is, what are the AUX and CORE sensors actually reading from?
you should really download a updated version of speedfan, or the new BETA one, the Beta is fantastic, it reads a lot more.
first of all you should find out if any of the sensors are actual sensor or just ghost readouts. hovering the mouse over each temp should tell you the min and max, if the numbers are all the same, igonre that temp, because it’s a ghost/false readout.
CPU is usualy the CPU temp, the actual casing of the CPU core.
the CORE temp is usually the actual inside, the silicone CPU temp.
aux can be a mystery, could be northbridge (probably is)
CPU0 is the 1st core of your CPU
CPU1 is the second core of the cpu
CPU2 is the third core of the cpu
CPU3 is the forth CPU core.
GPU is the graphics card temp
HDD is hard disk drive temp (which the BETA will read correctly)
