How do I know what size breeches?
First off, I’m going to a horse show on October 16-19 so I wanted to know…
Ariat Pro Circuit or Tailored Sportsman?
And how do I find my size in those?
I’m about 5’5″, do I get the long?
HELP.
well without knowing a weight or what size you wear in normal clothes I cant really give you a definite answer. But, if you an average build, you will probably be a 28 in the ariats or a 30 in the sportsmans. The sportsmans run on the smaller side while ariats or on the bigger side. with both breeches, they are designed to sit just below your calf muscle and not your ankle. But it is a personal preference as to where you want them to end. You should be a regular, but most people want the breech to come all the way down to their ankles so they get longs anyway. the cuts are pretty similar but I find with most people, they either fit one or the other. If you have never worn either I strongly suggest trying a pair on before buying. The ariats are machine washable and the sportmans are supposed to be dry cleaned but I put mine in the wash and air dry them and iron if needed. they have lasted years. Another thing to keep in mind, if you wear them lower on your hips or at your natural waistline. If its your natural waistline you will probably be one size down and if lower on your hips, one size up. The ariats have a great 4 way stretch fabric and the V fit system to help eliminate gaping at the top of the pant while you are riding as well as a calf fit system to eliminate bulk in the boot because there is no velcro. The sportsmans are meant to fit slightly looser and have a great 4 way or 2 way stretch fabric. It is slightly heavier fabric then the ariats but I would go with the supremes (4 way) then the royal (2 way). Although the royal looks so beautiful in a classic class. But if you are not sure you really need to try them on first before buying. Or at least find out the return policy.
