Recommend a road bike. I want to buy a road bike and was wondering what frame/fork combo would work for me.?
I weigh in at around 225 lbs. Would carbon fiber forks support me well enough? Riding would mostly be on paved roads except for about a one mile stretch of paved road recently covered with tar/gravel.

I have a aluminium frame with carbon rear chain stays and front fork…I have ridden this bike on fire trail a couple of times.(I don’t recommend to do this on a regular basis or long distance.. I am only 50kg.) Gravel will be OK just be care full due to the slippery surface. spinning high rpm on loos surface will literally do a burn out and crash. if you watch the pro cyclists in winter they push a huge gear over the muddy terain. OK Alluminum is very stiff and you can get good acceleration from it but a harsh ride. Titainium is expensive but smooth and stiff. Carbon frames are smooth stiff and a comfy ride. Just make sure you have rear drop outs in any frame! the key to a frame is the correct sizeing!!! and that the frame suits your needs.eg if you need a serious racing stiff frame with short stays or a comfortable comuting bike with longer stays and a more up right possision. reccomend sit down and work out what type of ridding you will be doing and then choose a frame for that need.(hint it is normally cheaper to buy a new bike with the componantry that you want rather than starting from scratch.
