is 8 years old too old to train a horse to neck rein?
I have found a horse that I really like and I really want to buy him, but the only thing wrong with him is that he rides with a western saddle, but doesn’t neck rein. I was wondering if we were to buy him, would it be possible to teach him how to neck rein if he is 8 years old?
Yes, you can teach him to neck rein. Age really isn’t a factor when it comes to neck reining. Make sure you perfect direct reining first. He should be soft on the bit, and he should also know how to give to leg pressure. Your legs are a big part of neck reining.
