Hey english riders…. I have a question?

ok so I plan on showing my aqha western pleasure gelding in english classes next year at shows. I know how to ride both english and western but I’ve only ever shown in halter showmanship western pleasure horsemanship and trail. So I obviously need to get some english show tack. When we ride english at home we will just use a western saddle pad but I need help with picking out a english pad for shows.
do I want this one?

The second one is the “traditional” English pad used in AQHA hunter classes. In AQHA Hunter Under Saddle or Equitation, your number WILL be on your saddle pad, not your back, and every rider will have one of these pads.

The first pad is similar to the traditional English pad used by most riders (at h/j shows, etc.) but you won’t see it at an AQHA show, except in over fences classes.

Those here who are commenting otherwise (saying the second pad isn’t good because you don’t wear your number on your pad) don’t show AQHA. You’ll look out of place if you do not have a pad like the second one and/or do not wear your number on both sides of your pad.

EDIT: Those who are saying you should use the first because the other one looks tacky and you want to catch the judge’s eye are giving you the wrong advice. At an AQHA show, you’ll stand out in a bad way if you use a pad like the first one–again, no one uses those: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8CrkH_pHQQ (notice the pads).
