Need help picking a MTB wheelset please?
I’ve narrowed it down to these two. I would prefer your opinion on the advantages of one or the other, but if you know of a much better wheelset in the same price range feel free to suggest it. Here are the two:

Well… right now the XT/Ryno lite is 150 (it is on discount on the site), so there is some considerable money saved.
Pros on the Mavic:
1. Lighter
2. Probably better looking
Cons
1. It has a low spoke count (probably 24 or 28 spokes per wheel vs 32 spokes per wheel on the XT). I don’t know your weight or what you’re planning to ride, but I prefer a stiff wheelset over a light one.
2. Everything is propietary. If you decide later to change your fork for a fork with a 15mm or 20mm axle, for example, that would mean you would need a new wheel. On the XT, you could probably just switch hubs (honestly, maybe you would need also spokes if the new hub has a different sized flange).
Maybe what it would turn down to is, if you want to do more XC stuff, maybe the Mavic could be a bit better with lighter weigth, or if you’re heavier and/or want to do more aggresive riding, the XT with Rynolites.
