can someone recommend a great brand of english all purpose saddle?
I can’t try them out because I am leasing a horse and I need to have a saddle to ride. I read that Bates and Pessoa are good but that they are now made in Argentina.. I read that Schleese is a good brand. Yes, I know i need to try a bunch but that isn’t possible. So i’d rather buy a good quality one that will be comfortable for the horse and adjustable. Any ideas? I’m looking for used and my budget is between 800 to 1200. Thank you!!
I personally like Courbette, Hermes, Bates and Pessoa. If you don’t own a horse, and are leasing, a big plus of the Bates (and Wintec) brands are the ability to change the gullet. Collegiate also has a changeable gullet system now, they are one of the most popular starter saddles in the industry right now. I would go to a few tack shops and see what they have available. With your budget you may be able to get a floor model, brand new at the end of the season. Also, just because you’re leasing doesn’t mean you can’t try the saddle out. Best of luck…
