Help me choose a good western saddle?
here’s the deal… i LOVE the look of a nice big western saddle with all the silver etc…problem is im 4’10″ (lol and im 23) and i cannot lift one on my draft cross! takes me a few tries, and by the time i get it on my pad is on the side of him lol
so obviously i think i need a synthetic, but i hate the look of most of them. its not for showing, just putting around on trail. can anybody recommend me a good synthetic saddle? do leather saddles under 40lbs exist?lol
If I were you I would look into Circle Y’s Flex Lite Saddles. They weigh anywhere between 20-26 lbs, and will come in a FQHB tree that will fit your horse. They have a large selection here: http://www.horsesaddleshop.com/circleysaddles.html
I don’t blame you for not wanting a synthetic either. At least with a leather saddle you have something that will last years and you can resell them for a decent price when you want to buy a new one. Synthetic saddes are usable, but not particularly durable, nor a good investment.
If you want to spend less I would recommend a Fabtron saddle. They have the nicest synethetic western saddles on the market, now that Big Horn has gone out of business. The Fabtron Lady Flex 7152 is probably the one of the best selling saddles on the market today, and it comes with most of the tack with it. http://www.horsesaddleshop.com/lady-trail.html
