i am thinking about buying tribars for a old schwinn varsity, will they fit?

i dont know if they will be able to clear the shifters

If you are putting aerobars on it and are using the old stem mounted shifters, you should look at the Split Second by Profile design or something like it. The two bars are separate and can be split wider to deal with the stem mount shifters. If you go with something like Profile’s Century bars or the Airstrykes, there may not be enough room between the two arms to accommodate the stem mounted shifters.
