what are the difference between drum brake , hydraulic disc brake and air brake in cars ?

In cars, both drum brakes and disc brakes are hydraulically actuated. The drum brake uses hydraulic pressure to expand brake shoes internally within the brake drum, stopping the car.

Disc brakes uses hydraulic pressure in a caliper to pinch the brake pads against the disc rotors, stopping the car.

Air brakes aren’t used on cars.

Air brakes are used on heavy trucks because they are designed for heavy equipment. They operate similar to hydraulic brake drums but use air pressure instead. Air pressure is applied to an air cylinder that turns an “S” cam expanding the brake shoes internally against the drum. Air brakes are used because it would take too much foot pressure to stop a large truck. Instead, air pressure is the power boost to stop the vehicle. Disadvantages of air brakes for cars is the extra stuff needed (compressor, dryer, air tanks, and there is a longer delay between brake pedal application and the actual application of the brake shoes against the drums. It takes time to compress the air in the brake lines going to the air cylinders – not so with hydraulic pressure.
