Horse died on a farrier stand, has this ever happened?
A very tragic thing happened yesterday…My barns manager’s horse died while getting her feet trimmed. The farrier had her foot on the farrier stand and her back feet slipped on the cement and she plummeted onto the stand, puncturing her stomach. The vet was there within 15 minutes but by this time the horse was so frantic that her intestines had fallen out (I know–graphic) She was put down. Has this ever happened before??? What a freak accident. Our farrier is just beside himself….as is the owner.
