what size prong collar and/or head halter should i buy my gsd?

ADD: I have to respectfully disagree with Anna. I have not seen one injury due to a prong collar in all my years in the veterinary field. I *have* however seen one too many injuries caused from choke chains.
In my opinion and experience, prong collars are MUCH safer then choke chains for armatures. If you are worried about “puncturing” a dogs skin (which I have never ever seen) they sell plastic covers you can slip over the prongs.
I have seen permanent tranchea damage/trama done with clients who use choke chains. Therefore, I will NEVER recommend one.
Also, I have seen dogs vomit -first hand- because owners were using such harsh leash corrections with choke chains… they can choke dogs and dogs can suffocate from them, unfortunately.
Prong collars do not choke your dog, so *they* will not cause your dog to choke.
