Is a Wonder bit the same thing as a snaffle bit?
I have had two different people recommend these two names of bits and when I looked them up on-line they look the same. Are they? We have a 9 yr old mare and she just asks like she’s so uncomfortable with her bit and she also won’t open her mouth for it. We have to really push and pry open her mouth and she thrashes her head around alot with it in her mouth.
If she objects so strongly to a bit then perhaps your first job should be to get a horse dentist or vet to check her teeth/mouth as that type of reaction usually indicates a mouth problem.
A Wonder Bit is a type of gag bit which is quite different to a snaffle (check them out on this link)

A snaffle is generally considered to be one of the mildest bits you can use so definitely worth considering for your mare.
Check out these sites for more info on snaffles

I have used snaffles for over thirty years and find they are the kindest and most inoffensive of bits.
Obviously there are times when other bit types are called for but for an all round kind bit, you can’t beat a snaffle.
I would get her teeth/mouth checked out first though as this can create great problems left unchecked.
Hope this helps

Fulfillingness’ First Finale $3.91 Stevie Wonder was in the middle of a multi-album roll when he put out this funk and soul collection, clunky title and all, in 1974. As usual, he adds depth and unexpected touches to even the most straightforward love song–the moving piano ballad “Too Shy to Say” has a spooky feeling, as if “I want to fly away with you, until there’s nothing more to do” is the saddest line he ever sang. The harder… |
